We are a Sustainable Hotel

We create happy experiences and generate shared value. At Hotel Las Américas, you too are part of the change.

EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT

OF WATER

Aware of the value of water, at Hotel Las Américas we implement actions for its responsible and sustainable use. Some of these are:

    • Installation of water-saving sanitary fixtures (faucets and toilets).
    • Constant monitoring of water consumption in rooms and common areas.
    • Sustainability awareness strategies for guests and staff.
    • Preventive maintenance of water systems to control and prevent leaks.
    • We promote sustainability by reusing rainwater and condensation, which is channeled to a storage system and later used for watering green areas.

EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT

OF ENERGY

We promote the responsible use of energy through the following actions:

    • Continuous measurement and control of electricity consumption.
    • Automation of the hotel's exterior lighting using timers. On/off period: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
    • Gradual implementation of a temperature control system for the air conditioners in Torre del Mar's guest rooms, using presence and motion sensors that regulate the temperature to 23°C when there is no activity.
    • Preventive maintenance of air conditioning equipment and chillers to ensure optimal performance and reduced electricity consumption.
    • Use of solar energy as a primary source of renewable energy through the installation of a photovoltaic system that powers the natural gas meters.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT

OF WASTE

We understand the impact of waste, which is why we promote activities aimed at its responsible and sustainable management:

    • Through the Eco-Adventure strategy, we encourage children to embrace a culture of reducing, recycling, and reusing by creating crafts with usable hotel waste and promoting environmental awareness.
    • We implement satisfaction surveys exclusively in digital format to avoid printing them.
    • A portion of the solid organic waste we generate is transformed into compost using composting machines on our premises. In 2024, we converted 9,791 kg of solid organic waste into fertilizer, used for maintaining green areas and the plant nursery. This initiative helped us avoid a carbon footprint of 999.1 kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2).
    • We transform used cooking oil (UCO) into biodiesel through a strategic partnership.
    • Our commitment is real. At Hotel Las Américas, we recycle every piece of paper, plastic, cardboard, glass, scrap metal, iron, aluminum, and other metals to reduce our environmental footprint.

EFFICIENT MATERIAL MANAGEMENT

RAW MATERIALS AND INPUTS

We optimize the use of raw materials and supplies through responsible consumption, waste control, and practices that promote sustainability in our operations:

    • We acquire raw materials and supplies in high-volume presentations to reduce plastic generation.
    • We carry out the transformation of raw materials with loss control in the food areas, thus reducing the generation of organic waste.

EMISSIONS AND NOISE CONTROL

We have implemented measures to minimize emissions and noise generated by our operations, promoting a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable environment. These measures include:

    • Performing regular equipment maintenance to ensure efficiency and extend lifespan.
    • Replacing refrigeration equipment with units that operate using environmentally responsible refrigerants.

ACTIONS OF

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We promote social responsibility initiatives that strengthen the sustainable development of the community. These initiatives include:

    • We facilitate the marketing and sale of locally sourced products. For example, we facilitate the sale of traditional regional sweets within the hotel premises by Palenquera women who are heads of household and reside in the La Boquilla district.
    • We strengthen ties with the Afro-Colombian community of La Boquilla through an agreement that has improved the quality of life for 18 people, who now work in an organized manner on the beach in front of the Casa de Playa building, earning higher incomes thanks to the flow of guests referred by the hotel.
    • We responsibly promote local cultural expressions through traditional dance performances at our facilities, presented by local talent who are part of our staff.
    • We manage the donation of linens in good condition and forgotten items to foundations and nursing homes.
